After more than 30 years of experience in concept development for dining and entertainment venues, Jim Cafarelli has become considered one of the nation's most trend-setting restaurateurs.
His impressive client list includes House of Blues, The Walt Disney Company, Universal Studios Orlando, David Copperfield's Late Night Magic, Motown, Greg Norman and Quincy Jones.
Most recently - in December 2010 - Jim completed development of "Under the Bridge", a new live music venue at the famed Chelsea Football Club Stadium in London's historic West End. This 800 person state-of-the-art rock club features a world class light, sound and recording system designed and installed by the famed XL Video Group. It also is home to a recording studio and television broadcast facility.
Back in his early development career, Cafarelli founded CAFCO Development Inc., a Boston-based concept design and construction management company specializing in restaurants. After years of successfully overseeing the design and opening of several hundred restaurants nationwide, he sold CAFCO to his partner.
Jim Cafarelli went on to become the exclusive developer of the famed House of Blues, and as President of House Of Blues Development he opened locations in Cambridge, New Orleans, Los Angeles, Chicago, Myrtle Beach, Orlando's Walt Disney World, Anaheim’s Disneyland and the Mandalay Bay Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas.
As a follow-up to this success, in 1998 he co-founded The Olive Group Corp. and opened 10 restaurants, including Olives in New York, Aspen, and Washington, D.C., as well as Kingfish Hall, Bonfire and Rustic Kitchen in Boston, and Tuscany in the Mohegan Sun Casino.
After years of partnerships, Jim decided to branch out on his own. Today, Jim and his wife, Kathy, are the founders of their own restaurant company, owning and operating four Rustic Kitchens.
Jim & Kathy have also developed a unique broadcast television kitchen studio as part of the Boston and Mohegan Sun restaurants. As co-executive producers they oversee production of a weekly Friday evening live show called “The Cooking Show” hosted by Liz Bramwell. The highly entertaining experience lets audience members dine on featured entrée items and enjoy wine pairings while also learning to prepare the meal themselves.
To date, Jim & Kathy have produced over 500 live cooking shows and the venue has become one of the most coveted tickets in town.
