Jim and Kathy Cafarelli opened the first Rustic Kitchen in Boston's Historic Faneuil Hall Marketplace in the summer of 2001. It quickly became recognized for their unique atmosphere and their blend of fresh, local cuisine & signature handmade pasta.
In 2005, Rustic Kitchen expanded into the South Shore and opened a second restaurant in Hingham, Massachusetts at the Derby Street Shoppes. Jim & Kathy moved the Boston restaurant to a larger space in Park Square by the Theater District and in 2006 they developed a unique broadcast television kitchen studio as well. As co-executive producers, they oversee production of a weekly Friday night show called "The Cooking Show" hosted by Executive Sous Chef Liz Bramwell. The highly entertaining live cooking show is presented to twenty-two audience members while they dine on featured entrée items, enjoy wine pairings and learn how to cook the meal themselves.
The third Rustic Kitchen opened in 2008 at the Mohegan Sun Casino @ Pocono Downs in Wilkes-Barre, PA. They launched a second cooking show there in an even larger space. Their state-of-the-art broadcast kitchen studio entertains an audience of forty and has become a coveted ticket in Northeastern Pennsylvania.
Executive Chef Michael Kelly's award winning cuisine is always seasonally inspired and locally fresh at every Rustic Kitchen each day. Our commitment to excellence has earned us many local industry awards including Boston Magazines "Best New Restaurant" and Sante' Magazines National Award as "Best New England Bistro". In 2012, AAA presented Rustic Kitchen in Boston their prestigious Four Diamond Award for outstanding service, standards, design and quality.
Rustic Kitchen has also expanded globally, opening their first location in Mexico City in 2010 at the City Shops and a second one in the historic La Condesa district in 2013. To date, Jim & Kathy have produced over 600 live cooking shows. The show currently airs on Comcast Xfinity OnDemand in New England and RCN in Pennsylvania.
