BEST CASUAL DINING - RUSTIC KITCHEN

With all the excellent restaurants in Boston, it seems a bit churlish to lament the lack of laid back casual options, and one that's overlooked is this standout in Faneuil Hall. Relatively new in the kitchen, chef Bill Bradley, who has earned accolades at both Carmen and Bricco, keeps things simple and satisfying, with a menu that boasts such items as white grape and cucumber gazpacho, veal osso bucco with parsnip puree, pizza, and macaroni and cheese. Pasta and breads are made in house, and the long narrow dining room (with the wood-fired oven in the middle) extends to an outdoor patio. In the midst of all the Disney-fired, touristy schlock of Faneuil Hall, Rustic Kitchen offers really good food at reasonable prices.
